Job Summary: OMC, a rural hospital dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to underserved communities, is seeking a board-certified Allergist to join our healthcare team at OMC. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide variety of allergic conditions, including asthma, rhinitis, food allergies, and other immune system-related disorders. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for rural medicine and the ability to form meaningful relationships with patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment plans for patients with allergic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, food allergies, drug allergies).
- Perform allergy testing, including skin and blood tests, and interpret results accurately.
- Administer allergy shots (immunotherapy) and educate patients about their treatment options.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, pulmonologists, and pediatricians, to provide multidisciplinary care.
- Educate patients and families about allergy management, prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
- Engage in community outreach and education to raise awareness about allergic conditions and available treatments.
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC (EMR) system.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay updated on advancements in allergy and immunology.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with Board Certification or Eligibility in Allergy and Immunology.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in [State] (or eligibility for licensure in [State]).
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with the ability to manage complex allergic conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with patients and healthcare team members.
- Passion for working in a rural setting and a commitment to improving the health of underserved populations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with rural healthcare challenges and resource limitations.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems. EPIC experience a plus.
- Interest in community education, and outreach.
