Description
In collaboration with physicians, our NNP's manage care delivery for premature and sick newborns, along with coordinating services provided by multiple disciplines.
Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of selected protocols/procedures. Provides educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community and coordinates QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Specific duties include attending high risk deliveries, resuscitation and stabilization of stressed newborns, intubation, placement of central lines, lumbar puncture, chest tube placement, respiratory management, ordering of fluids and medications, transporting sick neonates from referral hospitals to our center, providing daily management, performing discharge planning. This center does perform ECMO, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, total body cooling. It is a level 4 NICU.
- Obtains histories and performs physical exams.
- Assess the patient's / family's educational needs
- Develop, implement, evaluate and revise teaching strategies/educational programs.
Ensures that operations are in compliance with professional standards, applicable laws, accreditation, compliance/regulatory requirements and that organizational goals are being followed. Practices in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code.
Job Requirements:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Master's Degree in Nursing/health related field.
- Certified and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Michigan.
- Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
- Maintenance of CPR certification.
- NRP as appropriate for patient population.
- At least one or more years current, relevant clinical experience.
