Job Summary:

The Division of Rehabilitation Medicine within the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician with expertise in chronic pain management, basic and advanced interventional pain management techniques to join our multi-disciplinary Pain Medicine faculty. This position will see patients at UW Health outpatient clinic locations (including the UW Health East Park Medical Center opening in fall of 2024), provide interventional pain treatment in an ambulatory procedure center and participate in the division's rotational call coverage of inpatient care at the UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UW-Madison is comprised of 14 faculty, 5 advanced practice providers, 10 residents and 2 fellows within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, which includes 61 faculty and 49 advanced practice providers across eight subspecialty divisions, 7 fellows across five programs and 40 residents between two residency programs. The division enjoys strong collaborative relationships with faculty within the Department of Pediatrics Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Department of Anesthesia's Chronic Pain and Pain Management division.

We are seeking candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated either through practice experience or training. An appointment to either the Clinician Teacher (CT) track or CHS track will include clinical teaching of various trainees including medical students, residents and fellows. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates exists.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pain Medicine Fellowship training program
  • Experience in an academic medical setting preferred
  • Interest in peer reviewed publications and scholarly research activity highly desired
  • For an appointment at Associated or Professor rank on the CHS or CT Track, candidates must meet criteria established by the department as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines for appointment or promotion to Associate Professor on the CHS

- Board certification or board eligibility for American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Board certification or board eligibility for ABPM&R subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine
- Wisconsin medical licensure or eligibility for a Wisconsin Medical license
- Eligibility for enrollment as a billing provider for all necessary hospital privileges
