or ability to obtain Shifts - 12 or 24 hour shifts, 8A - 8P - 8P - 8A
No call: Provider will work at MIlford Regional Medical Center Deliveries annually Procedures: Cesarean, vaginal delivery
Other responsibilities include: ED and phone consult Only laborist on but physician back-up always available 4 PA’s employed plus Nursing staff Term of assignment - 6 mos to a year
Cases: They accept some high-risk patients including twins, gest diabetics, HTN spectrum, AMA, etc.. Extremely high-risk patients, sa higher order multiples, starting BMI >45, pre-gestational diabetics, are referred to tertiary care centers - typically UMASS. On any given shift there are typically 3-4 active labor patients and 10-12 total (including postpartum patients). This is, of course an average - varies day to day.
Also important to know, the MD will have a mid-level on with them (a PA with OB experience, or (hopefully) a midwife. This person takes care of the vast majority of the " busy work" sa rounding on postpartum, discharging patients, etc.
