Pediatric Cardiac Transplant Physician

Job Summary:

The Division of Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Pediatric Cardiac Transplant Physician to join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.

The Pediatric Heart Transplant program at University of Wisconsin/American Family Children's Hospital has been active since 2023 and is rapidly growing. To date, 9 children have been supported on ventricular assist devices and 7 children have received heart transplants. We now maintain a steady cardiac ICU service and have a growing outpatient population as well. We also follow patients in Fontan and Neuromuscular clinics, as well as a growing Cardio-Oncology population.

Members of the Division of Cardiology strive to maintain excellence in clinical care, education, and research. The division recognizes that excellence in pediatric cardiovascular medicine and surgery requires a well-coordinated team approach to care. Important contributors to divisional activities include physicians (pediatric specialists in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care medicine, anesthesiology and perfusion, and high-risk obstetricians), nurse practitioners, registered nurses, echocardiography technicians, exercise physiologists, and our patients, their families, and their referring physicians. We strive for excellence in service and clarity in communication with our patients' families and with their physicians.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. Qualifications:

• Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required, by start date.
• Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Cardiology is required by start date
• Additional fellowship training in advanced cardiac therapies and pediatric heart transplant preferred.
• Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.
• For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS or CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment or promotion to Associate Professor or Professor on the CHS or CT Track.
