St. Joseph's / Candler Hospital is the region's leader in delivering babies. Candler hospital has 25 expansive mother/baby rooms and 14 labor and delivery rooms. This hospital has also received prestigious international recognition as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility and received recognition from Baby-Friendly USA, the U.S. authority for the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative ("BFHI"). It also has a Level II NICU and in house obstetrical anesthesiologists. St. Joseph’s / Candler Hospital currently sees approximately 2,820 annual deliveries.
This opportunity involves working collaboratively with local obstetricians to ensure that every pregnant woman who presents to the hospital is cared for by an experienced physician every time. We are seeking OB/GYNs with exceptional clinical and communication skills, a passion for healthcare quality improvement, and a desire to shape the future of our specialty.

A day in the life includes:
- Caring for all pregnant women who present emergently, regardless of circumstance
- Cultivating relationships with staff nurses and hospital personnel
- Supporting private practice physicians by providing coverage and assistance
- Caring for unassigned patients
- Evaluating and treating triage patients
- Providing consultation to the ED
- Monitoring labor
- Delivering babies
- Performing surgery and surgical assists
- Evaluating and treating postpartum patients
- Providing nurse support and education

As an OBHG clinician you are the in-house expert. You'll improve patient safety, reduce maternal mortality rates and help alleviate physician burnout. A typical work day might include collaborating with local private-practice OB/GYNs, assisting with emergent cases, caring for unassigned patients, overseeing residents or meeting with hospital leaders to design a new quality initiative.
