Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Department of Dermatology is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Faculty on the Tenure Track in Skin Immunology. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, researchers, and clinicians to develop and implement a cutting-edge research program focused on skin and cancer immunology.

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a dynamic and innovative hub for clinical care, research, and education in skin health and disease. Renowned for its cutting-edge approaches to diagnosing and treating complex dermatological conditions and cutaneous malignancies, the department is supported by robust research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense (DOD), private foundations, and industry partners. These resources fuel pioneering investigations in cutaneous oncology, inflammatory skin diseases, genodermatoses, and rare dermatological disorders. Leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as spatial transcriptomics, RNA sequencing, proteomics, and microphysiological systems (MPS), the department is dedicated to advancing the understanding of skin biology and developing transformative therapies. Through its collaborative initiatives and commitment to innovation, the department provides exceptional training for the next generation of dermatologists and researchers while improving patient outcomes and pushing the boundaries of dermatological science. Currently, the Department consists of more than 40 faculty, including 8 in the Tenure Track, involved in cutting-edge research.

The University of Wisconsin has numerous other resources, including the NCI Designated Comprehensive Carbone Cancer Center and a wealth of core facilities available to research faculty to facilitate the advancement of medical research. For example, the UW Biotechnology Center provides a wide variety of core scientific services to UW research faculty. The core includes a bioinformatics resource center, gene expression center, genome editing, animal models, and mass spectrometry. More specific services include but are not limited to DNA and mRNA sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9 animal models, genome-wide CRISPR screening, development of customized, advanced CRISPR applications, and quantitative proteomics. These resources maximize the potential by targeting expertise in interdisciplinary areas, including data science, precision medicine, complex systems, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

Candidate is required to have an MD and/or PhD in Immunology or related fields. Candidates with a research focus in tumor immunology, inflammation, inflammatory dermatoses, skin cancer after organ transplantation, immuno-oncology, immune-based cancer therapies, immune checkpoint biology, and novel therapeutics development are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will have academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Tenure Track rank of Professor or Associate Professor. Evidence of success in leading, developing, or participating in an extramurally funded research program is also expected.
