  • Working in remote areas in Africa since 1963, Lalmba Association is a small nonprofit nongovernmental organization looking for volunteer physicians to serve as medical consultants and educators for clinics in Matoso, Kenya and Agaro Bushi, Ethiopia.

    Job Highlights:

    · Opportunity to supervise heath officers and nurse clinicians in remote communities

    · Broadening of clinical medicine skills to include global health and lesser known diseases.

    · Ability to partner with local Ministries of Health to strategize about community health needs.

    · Direct contact with community leaders and communities to identify needs and educate communities regarding health measures and treatment opportunities.

    · Opportunity to hike to or visit remote communities to promote health measures, provide health education, track treatment defaulters, or do home visits.

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    · Mentor and supervise local staff, providing support, education, and systems management.

    · Organize and participate in weekly staff education seminars.

    · Engage the public health team to find innovative ways to provide community health education and support positive health behavioral change.

    · Provide support for clinic pharmacy and lab staff, ensuring that medications and lab supplies are readily available.

    Volunteer Requirements:

    · Have an active license to practice and with appropriate documents, apply for a license in appropriate country.

    · 6-12 month volunteer commitment
