After graduation from Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences (NBUMS) and 2 years of practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the First Teaching Hospital of NBUMS, Dr. Liu entered the PhD program at Wayne State University, MI, USA. He studied the regulation of pre-implantation embryonic development. After winning his PhD degree, he studied the uterine response during implantation at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, USA.
After his residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center which is affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he joined the faculty practice at Tufts Medical Center as an Attending Physician and Assistant Professor in Boston, MA in 2014. Dr. Liu practiced general Obstetrics and Gynecology including but not limited to prenatal care, routine women care, minimal invasive gynecological surgery including Robotic Surgery and office hysteroscopy, and infertility treatment. Meanwhile, he continued his research in human reproduction as well as teaching resident and medical student.
Dr. Liu joined New Hope Fertility Center in Manhattan, NY in 2014. He masters the full-range skills in infertility treatment including egg retrieval (transvaginal and transabdominal) under local anesthesia and IV sedation, embryo transfer under transvaginal ultrasound monitor, hysteroscopy. His unique mild stimulation protocol balances the quality and quantity of oocytes in POCS patient and improve the clinical outcome of diminished ovarian reserve.
Dr. Liu was involved and co-authored the "Live birth derived from oocyte spindle transfer to prevent mitochondrial disease", which is a milestone of fertility treatment. His other research in trophoblast biology are also ground breaking.
