  • Ziad Bakouny, MD, MSc is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). Ziad has published over 45 PubMed-index peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer Discovery, Clinical Cancer Research, European Urology, European Urology Focus, European Journal of Cancer, the Journal of Biomechanics, and Gait & Posture.

    Ziad serves as a reviewer for multiple journals including Lancet Oncology, Cancer Immunology Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology - Clinical Cancer Informatics (JCO CCI), and Cancer.
    Ziad also currently serves as an an ASCO Editorial Fellow for JCO CCI.

    Ziad's initial research work focused on 3D computational modeling of human musculoskeletal architecture and movement in a Biomechanics dry Lab at the Saint Joseph University (USJ). This research formed the basis for his MSc and MD theses.

    Ziad subsequently worked in the clincal research setting at Hotel Dieu de France Hospital (HDF) where he worked on original clinical research, reviews, and meta-analyses.

    Ziad is now a post-doctoral research fellow at DFCI, where he has been co-mentored since September 2018 by Dr. Toni Choueiri in Genitourinary Oncology and Eliezer Van Allen in a Computational Oncology dry Lab. His current research focuses on clinical and computational research in the field of Genitourinary Oncology. He is specifically interested in the determinants of response and resistance to systemic therapies and in the molecular bases of rare and aggressive forms of kidney cancer.

    Ziad aspires to become a Physician-Scientist specialized in Genitourinary Oncology and is planning to apply, starting September 2020, for Internal Medicine Residency Training in the USA.
