Summary
- I graduated cum laude from Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical School and completed my residency in Neurology in Turkey. Subsequently, I finished my Ph.D. in cellular Neuroscience in Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in neurogenetics in Columbia University, I completed my psychiatry residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) while continuing my work in basic neuroanatomy of a genetic model organism (www.wormatlas.org). I did my fellowship in emergency psychiatry in Columbia University-New York Presbyterian Hospital. Between 2008-2016, I also worked as the Bellevue Hospital ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) team psychiatrist caring for the underserved, severely mentally ill community. I continue to work in Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia campus as an attending psychiatrist. I also work at Columbia Doctors Midtown (https://www.columbiadoctors.org/) seeing adult patients for diagnostic evaluations and medication management combined with therapy tailored to the needs of individual patients. My expertise covers psychotic disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, neuropsychiatric disorders, emergency psychiatry and brief psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy.
