Summary
- I joined the U.S. Army at the age of 19 in 2003 as a Combat Medic. I was assigned to 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division for 4 years in which I deployed twice to Iraq (24 months). I was promoted from Private (E-1) to Sergeant (E-5) during that time. I performed clinical and combat related medical skills. I went to college in between deployments and achieved all the pre-requisites for the Interservice Physician Assistant Program while on active duty. I applied in 2006, was accepted, and attended PA school from 2007 to 2009. I did my clinical rotations at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley, KS. I have functioned as a Battalion PA, Senior Battalion PA, Clinic OIC, Task Force DCCS for a Role II-E, EMPA Residency Program Research Coordinator, Assistant Program Director, and Program Director. I have also been the Brigade PA and part of the Advanced Trauma Management/Damage Control Resuscitation (ATM/DCR) Team for an Armored Brigade. My last position was the Company Commander for a Medical Company responsible for medical support and higher level of medical care for an Armored Brigade Combat Team in 1st Armored Division for a deployment to Kuwait. I am now the Senior Division Physician Assistant for 1st Armored Division and also work at three emergency departments in El Paso, TX including a Level I Trauma Center.
