- Zahid H. Bajwa, MD, FAHS is a board certified neurologist, also trained and board certified in Pain Medicine by ABA/ABPN, and Headache Medicine (UCNS). He is certified in Neurology and Pain Medicine by NBPAS, and by ABPM in Pain Medicine. After completing neurology residency from Montefiore, AECOM, NY, he completed ACGME accredited Pain Medicine fellowship at the Mass. General Hospital (MGH), HMS in Boston. He practiced at BIDMC from 1993-2012 rising to the rank of Associate Professor of Anesthesia (Neurology) at Harvard Medical School. He established the first Comprehensive Headache Center at BIDMC in 1993. He held many medical leadership roles at Arnold-Warfield Pain Center at BIDMC including director of education and clinical research in headache and pain. He has received many awards and honors for his clinical, educational and research work including recognition as the top doctor for many years while at BIDMC, and later at Boston Headache Institute, Boston PainCare Center (BPC). He is the founding director of Boston Headache Institute and the first Director of Clinical Research at BPC. He received his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan, and is a Fellow of the American Headache Society. He specializes in headache and pain medicine and is nationally recognized in acute/chronic pain, dystonia, migraine, cervicogenic, cluster, and other complex headaches. His educational topics also include a variety of neuropathic pain including DPNP, PHN, TGN, facial pain, neuropharmacology, sleep and spasticity. He joined Eli Lilly and Co. in 2019 supporting Lilly Bio-Medicine, Neuroscience, Pain. He served as Associate Vice President for Medical Affairs-Migraine/Pain, Neuroscience before returning to clinical academic practice in the South East joining Tennessee Valley Pain Management in June 2023. He is currently Director of the Southeast Headache and Pain Institute offering state of the art treatments for severe head, face and neck pain.
