  • Zachary McCormick, MD is a board-certified specialist in both Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) with expertise in the care of spine and musculoskeletal pain. He received his MD at the University of Pennsylvania, completed a PM&R residency and fellowship at Northwestern University(The Rehabilitation institute of Chicago). Following training, he served as a faculty member at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. McCormick currently serves as Associate Professor of PM&R at the University of Utah, the Director of the Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship, and the Director of Clinical Spine Research.

    An active researcher, Dr. McCormick's work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of spine and joint pain, specifically radicular, discogenic, zygapophyseal joint, sacroiliac joint, and knee joint pain. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed journalarticles and has received research awards from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the National Institute of Diabetes Digestive & Kidney Diseases, the Spine Intervention Society, the Midwest Pain Society, and the Foundation ofPM&R. He serves on the editorial board for Pain Medicine, The Spine Journal, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

    Dr. McCormick’s leadership efforts focus strongly on educating and training physicians regarding the safe, appropriate, and effective diagnosis and treatment of spine and musculoskeletal pain disorders. He regularly lectures on these topics nationally. He additionally serves on the Board of Directors of Spine Intervention Society (SIS), as the Vice Chair of the SIS Standards Division, as the Chair of the North American Spine Society (NASS) Committee on Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine Fellowships, and on the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) Annual Program Committee.
