Summary

  • I am a board-certified otolaryngologist and surgeon-scientist, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at UTHealth. Following my medical education, I completed my first residency in Otolaryngology in China and subsequently practiced as an academic surgeon with a focus on rhinology and anterior skull base at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical University. Motivated by my passion for integrating surgical proficiency with scientific inquiry, I came to the USA and pursued advanced research training at UNC Chapel Hill, followed by a surgical internship, research fellowship, and an additional residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Throughout my career, I have served as faculty and staff surgeon at Duke University, Durham VA Hospital, the University of Iowa, and the Iowa City VA Hospital. I am also the principal investigator of multiple NIH grants.

With over 25 years of experience practicing Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, I have had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with world-class physicians, surgeons, and educators. This invaluable experience enables me to provide the best possible care to my patients and their families. While I specialize in treating disorders affecting the ear, nose, throat, voice box, head, and neck, my particular clinical interests lie in diseases and surgeries of the nose and ears. This includes expertise in managing conditions such as sinusitis, allergies, septal deviation, skull base issues, nasal obstruction, chronic ear infections and drainage, cholesteatoma, ear drum perforation, and hearing problems.
