Summary
- William Mills, M.D. – Dr. Mills is the Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Innovation, leading the organization’s value-based care outcomes strategy, strategic partnership development and innovation areas. Mills is committed to building high-performance health plan and strategic partnerships that leverage BrightSpring’s national home and community-based healthcare services and pharmacy network capabilities, including home-based primary care and in-home medication therapy management. To date, Mills’ work at BrightSpring has involved dozens of peer-reviewed publications and presentations featuring the company’s quality results, resulting in over one hundred additional citations in the medical literature since 2020. Some specific themes of the work focus on driving access to high quality care through novel programs developed to address home-based primary care opportunities, frailty, medication adherence, interventions to reduce hospitalization rate in complex populations, infection control in congregate care settings, and better care of people with disabilities. Mills headed the organization’s Outbreak Committee throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, with the company’s patient, client and employee infection rate of less than one-third of the U.S. general population rate. BrightSpring’s COVID response received international recognition from a number of organizations, including the World Health Organization, the London School for Economics, and Modern Healthcare, among others.
Prior to BrightSpring, Mills founded and led Chronic Care Management, Inc (now Cosan Group), a care management organization that has served hundreds of thousands of complex patients utilizing a novel evidence-based approach. Before that, Dr. Mills served as Vice President for Medical Affairs and CMO of Care Management, Home Health and Hospice at Kindred Healthcare. Dr. Mills has founded and served as CEO of two medical groups and a hospice company that were previously acquired.
