- William Wesley Fields is a literature graduate of the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara who was mentored by its founder, Marvin Mudrick. He attended the Keck School of Medicine at USC, trained in emergency medicine at Harbor/UCLA, and was an associate clinical professor at UC Irvine. During most of his career in Vituity, the largest acute care partnership in the US, he was either director or chair of its democratically elected board. Dr. Fields served in a variety of leadership positions in the American College of Emergency Physicians, co-founding its Health Policy Scholar program and the Emergency Medicine Policy Institute. He has been published in a number of peer-reviewed healthcare journals, collaborated on studies of the acute care continuum by RAND and the Brookings Institutions, and continues to chair the Emergency Medicine Political Action Committee in California.
