- I am a board-certified Sports and Emergency Medicine physician with practice in Orlando Florida, currently part of Florida Hospital Medical Group.
I have gained extensive experience in Sports Medicine at the elite university and professional level, serving as a team physician at Duke University and currently serving as Per Diem Medical Director/Event Physician for the National Basketball Association. As part of these duties, I provide the medical planning, organization of medical logistics and event coverage at events like the NBA Finals, NBA All-Stars, NBA Global Games and Basketball Without Borders since 2010. I had the privilege to be part of the NBA’s medical delegation for USA Basketball at the London Olympics in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016.
I started a PhD program at Concordia University, Chicago in Health and Human Performance (degree expected 2019). During my free time, I participate in medical journalism, providing expertise in the fields of general, emergency and sports medicine as a consultant to CNN Español.
I completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, Durham North Carolina. In addition, I graduated from the UCC School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the Cooper University Hospital/UMDMJ. I am fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
