  • Doctor Dunn is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He then completed a flexible internship at Andrews Air Force Base, MD, home of Air Force One, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. After residency training and twelve years of Active Duty in the Air Force, Dr. Dunn completed a fellowship in Retina and Vitreous Disease and Surgery at Retina Associates of Cleveland, Mt. Sinai Medical Center/Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.

    Doctor Dunn holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot and Single Pilot Jet Rating , with over 4000 hrs of Accident Free Flight time, achieving the NBAA Safety Award (National Business Aircraft Association).
    Dr. Dunn also achieved the USPA (United States Parachute Association) D Rating, the Top License in SkyDiving with over 255 jumps.

    Dr. Dunn was promoted to the rank of Colonel, USAF, with more than 30 years of active duty, guard and reserve service to our country.

    Doctor Dunn has volunteered on seven third world eye missions and is a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award from EyeCare America. He has also been a principal investigator on multiple national clinical studies in vitreo-retinal research.

    Dr. William J. Dunn was awarded the "Life Fellow" Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2017 for over 35 years of continuous and uninterrupted service.

    Raised in Arizona, Dr. Dunn enjoys running, flying, skiing, and traveling the world. He is a very proud father of four adult children and Grandfather of four.

    Doctor Dunn joined the Florida Retina Institute in 1991, and has practiced Retinal eye care in Daytona Beach for over 29 years.
