Summary

  • I board certified in radiology (specializing in cardiothoracic imaging) and clinical informatics. My research focuses on human factors engineering and developing new methods for educating healthcare trainees and practitioners based on our knowledge of how humans perceive medical images. Methods being examined are derived from the literature on medical image perception and the mechanisms by which human observers interpret medical images to formulate diagnostic decisions. These methods are incorporated into training algorithms on a simulated radiology workstation. Subject performance is evaluated as a function of training.
