- Dr. Wayne Batchelor currently serves as System Director of Interventional Cardiology, Director of Interventional Research and Education at the Inova Health System and Senior Associate Director of Inova Schar Heart and Vascular in Fairfax, VA, U.S.A. He is a Professor of Medicine at Duke University (adj.), Chair of the American College of Cardiology's (ACC) Interventional Sectional Leadership Council, and Vice-Chair of the U.S. Society of Thoracic Surgery and American College of Cardiology’s Transcatheter Valve Therapy (STS/ACC TVT) Registry. Dr. Batchelor is board certified in cardiovascular disease with added qualifications in interventional cardiology. His clinical interests include the treatment of acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, complex/high risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), structural/valvular heart disease, clinical trials in cardiovascular disease, and cardiovascular health care disparities. He has published over 220 peer-reviewed original abstracts/manuscripts, multiple book chapters, served on numerous national/international clinical trial steering committees and as National PI on multiple trials. He is a Senior Advisor and often Guest Editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) and serves on the editorial boards of Circulation, the Journal of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine. Dr. Batchelor is also a special consultant to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) within the Cardiovascular Devices Branch.
