Dr. Howe practiced family medicine in Oak Harbor, WA for 21 years, and then practiced on the staff at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA as team physician and student health physician for 19 years. Dr. Howe has served on the Board of Directors of the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment from 1998 to present, and was a Commissioner on the WA Medical Quality Assurance Commission from 2012-2020. His research includes publications primarily focused on sports medicine and he has received notable honors such as the ACSM Citation Award, the AMSSM Founders Award, and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Lifetime Service Award.
