- Dr. Violet (Fernandes) Borowicz is a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist based in Roanoke, VA. She completed her fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Children's National Hospital/George Washington University after finishing her residency in pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. In addition to serving patients with a variety of hematologic and oncologic disorders, she also provides pediatric palliative/supportive care to any child with a chronic/life threatening illness. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She also serves as the Medical Director for Care Connection for Children. Her work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Blood Cancer. Dr. Borowicz has earned recognition as a "Top Doc" in Palliative Medicine and received the Humanism Award from Carilion Children's Pediatric Residency Program.
