Summary
- My professional life as a physician executive has been dedicated to improving the quality and safety of healthcare through the development of highly reliable systems of care.
As the Vice President of Patient Care & Safety and Chief Medical Officer of Matheny Medical and Educational Center our goal is to deliver exceptionally safe, high quality care to every patient, every day.
High reliability in healthcare is accomplished by building systems designed to protect patients from harm and improve processes of care through the development of interdisciplinary teamwork using data to improve quality.
No one person can change healthcare, but together with the gifted team of professionals at Matheny, we are working towards the same goal of highly reliable safe systems of care that are patient centered, clinically effective and timely.
I have practiced Internal Medicine, including the sub-specialty of Hospital Medicine, since graduating the IM residency training program at NJ Medical School in 1998. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and licensed to practice in NJ. I am currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Rutgers NJ Medical School.
Formerly, as Chief Quality Officer at University Hospital and Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, I lead teams to develop systems that enhanced the quality of care to every patient we touched. After all, quality is what the patient says it is.
My research centers around quality improvement and patient safety.
