Summary

• Vanessa Fuentes is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2018. Her nursing career spans over 15 years in critical and cardiac ICU, PICU, NICU, women's services, ED and trauma-burns resuscitation. After becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as a primary care provider for several pediatricians and urgent care centers. She was a preceptor to graduate students for many years and then became a professor of nursing; soon discovering her passion for an array of nursing academia, scholarship and mentorship to a new generation of students. She has engaged in creation of various program workflows, clinical practice guidelines for providers, and cross-functional duties assisting other departments during the pandemic to include course content and creation. She has been involved in drafting presentations, research, and grant writing processes during her tenure at a South Florida teaching hospital. Vanessa works as an adjunct faculty for Pediatrics and maintains board certification in family and emergency nursing.
