He completed his medical education at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, and graduated in the top 5% of his class. He trained in General Surgery at the prestigious Howard University Hospital in Washington DC, where he received the Surgery Intern of the year award, and in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Saint Louis University Hospital. He went further to train in Craniofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and Necker Hospital in Paris, France.
Dr. Gbulie is certified both by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
