- Dr. Zahir is a board certified orthopaedic spine surgeon. Dr. Zahir received his bachelor of science in physiology and neurobiology from the University of Maryland, followed by a doctorate in medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery and an additional fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Maryland Medical/Shock Trauma Center.
Dr. Zahir joined Medstar Orthopaedic Institute in 2012. For five years he served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and was on staff at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and Medstar St. Mary's Hospital. In 2017, he joined HCA Physician Services Group, and was the first surgeon to perform endoscopic spinal procedures in Virginia for spinal stenosis. In 2019, he transitioned to private practice, in Potomac, Maryland. His practice serves patients from MD, DC, and Virginia.
