• Troy Thompson II, MD, is a psychiatrist based in Glen Mills, PA, and Wilmington, DE, specializing in adult and geriatric psychiatry, consultation, and individual, couples and family psychotherapy. He completed psychoanalytic training and later taught psychoanalysis at the Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Institute. He completed his residency in psychiatry at Yale-New Haven Medical Center after graduating magna cum laude from Emory University School of Medicine in 1973. Beginning in 1987, Dr. Thompson was a tenured professor for 20 years and chaired the Department of Psychiatry for 10 years at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has also served on the faculty at Yale University. His published works include many chapters in textbooks and research and scholarly articles in medical journals, including NEJM, AmJPsychiatry, Psychosomatics... He was president of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine in 1991-1992 and the Association for Academic Psychiatry in 1990-1991. He was elected to membership in the Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha, and to its National Board of Directors for 15 years.
