- Dr. Trong B. Nguyen, MD, FAAOS, is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and founder of the Orthopaedic, Sports, Spine and Pain Center (OSSP) in Fountain Valley, CA. He is also the Medical Director of the Total Shoulder Replacement Program at the MemorialCare Joint Replacement Center at Orange Coast Medical Center.
Dr. Nguyen also has expertise and certification to perform robotic-arm assisted total knee, partial knee and hip replacement with the Mako system. Mako is advanced robotic technology and an innovative tool that helps surgeons create a personalized surgical plan for each patient.
Dr. Nguyen is Fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine and received his Undergraduate Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at UCLA. While pursuing his academic degree, he was an accomplished athlete and four-year Varsity Letterman for the UCLA Men's Volleyball team under the leadership of the legendary Coach Al Scates, capturing national championships in 1995 and 1996 and became a PACC-10 Gold Medal Finalist. He pursued his Olympic aspirations while working towards his medical degree from UC San Diego.
After medical school, he completed his residency training in New York at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine - Montefiore Medical Center program, where he excelled in the specialty of Orthopaedic surgery.
Returning to Southern California he sub-specialized in sports surgery and the care of athletes. He completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Joint Reconstruction at the ACGME-accredited Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach, CA, training with world-renowned Orthopaedic surgeons, including former President of the AAOS, Dr. Douglas Jackson; well-published and world-renowned shoulder/elbow specialists, Dr. David Morrison and Dr. Peter Kurzweil.
Dr. Trong B. Nguyen is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) and holds the proud distinction of being a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS).
