- Dr. Tollefson is Professor and Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California Davis, where he specializes in cleft and pediatric craniofacial care, facial reconstruction and facial trauma care. His interest in improving surgical access in low-resource settings led him to complete a Master’s in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. He leads the Craniomaxillofacial arm of the AO-Alliance.org, whose goal is to improve patient outcomes patients with facial injuries in low resource settings.
He has been appointed the Editor in Chief of the journal Facial Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine (formerly called JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery), with an impact factor of 4.61
This July, he becomes the AO North America CMF Board Chair.
He was elected to the Board of Directors for the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.
As Group Vice President for the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, he is responsible for Socioeconomic and Regulatory Affairs.
His textbook, Complete Cleft Care is an evidence-based textbook on team management of cleft lip-palate and he is the co-director of the UC Davis Cleft and Craniofacial Program.
