Summary
- An academic physician-scientist, I work as an attending pulmonologist and intensivist at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a county hospital and regional referral center. I care for patients with pulmonary disorders as well as for critically ill medical and surgical/trauma patients. I serve as the Medical Director of Bronchoscopy Services at Harborview. My major academic interests are lung infections and sepsis, diseases with a global impact that are particularly burdensome to underserved populations. My research combines studies of epidemiology, management, and outcomes of lung infections and sepsis, as well as translational and laboratory-based investigations of biological mechanisms underpinning susceptibility and host defense.
