Summary
- Dr Crombleholme graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and attended Tufts University School of Medicine. He trained in General Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco and did a fellowship in Fetal Surgery under Michael R Harrison, MD at UCSF. Dr Crombleholme completed his training with a Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the Floating Hospital for Infants and Children at Tufts Medical Center before joining the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine. He joined with Diana Bianchi, MD and Mary D’Alton, MD in writing the award winning textbook Fetology: Evaluation and Management of the Fetal Patient, widely regarded as the gold standard text in the field at the time. Dr Crombleholme was recruited to CHOP to start the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center with Scott Adzick, MD and rose from Assistant to Associate Professor with Tenure at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine earning an honorary Masters Degree. He was recruited to Cincinnati Children’s to found the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati as the Richard and Geralyn Azizkhan, MD Chair in Fetal Surgery. In 2011 he was appointed Surgeon-in-Chief of Children’s Colorado and Ponzio Family Chair at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. In 2018 he became the National Director for Fetal Surgery for HCA Healthcare and Director of the Fetal Care Center Dallas. In 2022 he was recruited to Connecticut Children’s to start the Fetal Care Center and is Professor of Surgery, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr Crombleholme has been an NIH funded investigator with basic research focused on the role of endothelial progenitors in lung development, tissue repair and gene therapy in treating intrauterine growth restriction. He is also active in clinical research focused on the treatment of twin-twin transfusion syndrome, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, fetal renal failure, CPAM and other fetal and neonatal condition
