Summary
- Dr. Thomas M. Wherry is a board-certified anesthesiologist and the CEO and president of Scope Concepts. Tom founded Scope Concepts, formerly Right Field Analytics, in 2013 in response to the growing national anesthesia coverage challenges facing healthcare providers. His vision was to bring back the local, personalized anesthesia model to communities by developing thoughtful anesthesia leaders and investing in innovative perioperative care models. Since then, Scope Concepts has collaborated with leading hospitals, health systems, and other providers in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries. Scope Concepts helps anesthesia practices and hospital systems effectively combat the current disruptive healthcare landscape to better manage the increasing demands of perioperative care. Scope Concepts is supported by Scope Analytics, a team of multidisciplinary leaders who are developing innovative technology and analytic delivery systems, for which Tom serves as a managing director. In 2018, Tom relocated to Charlotte, N.C., to establish Scope Anesthesia of North Carolina, which he has built up as a physician-managed and locally owned group. Its success was largely attributable to Tom's ability to recruit and organize more than 80 highly qualified anesthesiologists in a short period. Bringing together specialists from academic and private sector centers, he formed a cohesive, high-performing team which took over the anesthesiology services for ten Atrium Health facilities, including its flagship hospital Carolinas Medical Center, and delivered specialist adult and pediatric anesthesia services.
Tom is the co-founder of and remains involved with Total Anesthesia Solutions, which provides innovative surgery center and hospital anesthesia service delivery solutions. He previously served as a founding member and board member of First Colonies Anesthesia Associates in Maryland, where he served as the division director for ambulatory surgery centers.
