- Thomas Steineke, MD, PhD, FAANS, prior Chairman of the Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Neuroscience Institute and Director of the minimally invasive intracranial and skull base program has a 20-year history of brain tumor and neurovascular surgery excellence. Dr. Steineke focuses on the surgical treatment of complex brain disorders in adults and children including skull base tumors, brain tumors, pituitary tumors, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cerebral bypass for Moya Moya, and complex neurovascular conditions, and Chiari malformations. Under his tenure, Hackensack Meridian Health JFK University Medical Center was recognized by US News and World Report as one of the top centers in New Jersey and nationally as a high performing neurosurgical institute.
Dr. Steineke has led the utilization of minimally invasive and endoscopic intracranial surgery in New Jersey. He is a pioneer in the application of virtual and augmented reality technology for neurosurgery. His work has shown how the application of this novel technology enhances patient engagement, improves surgical preparation, decreases operative time, and optimizes patient care.
CNSO recruited Dr. Steineke because of his extensive successful experience in treating adults and children with complex brain conditions, and to expand the brain tumor and neurovascular adult and pediatric brain surgery program throughout northern and central New Jersey.
