Summary
- Thomas J (TJ) Pulliam MD MMM FACG has been a general gastroenterologist and consultant in and around The NC Triad and is now focused on promoting "The Pro Humanitate Culture" that he actively embraced when coming to Winston-Salem NC for med school in the Summer of 1980. He received his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in 1984 and has been in practice for many years. He specializes in esophageal diseases, digestive cancers, and gastrointestinal functional and motility disorders although also has a major focus in colon cancer prevention since rectal cancer killed his Grandfather Pulliam in the early 1950's (before TJ was born in 1958) as well as few other family members. All sorts of other cancers afflict his Mom's and Dad's people -- some have died too darn young and a few others got into trouble late in life
TJ made the very reasonable decision to go inactive on all medical stuff via CAQH so that he can fully focus on his consulting practice. Main missions are to nurture the young aspirants who are considering a career in the healing arts/sciences. He has found lots of inspiration via The Gallup Organization's Clifton Strengths -- empathy, positivity, maximizer, relator have always been in the top 5 -10 of the 30+ strengths identified by the late Donald O Clifton PhD
(a very brilliant writer)
For the past 25 years, he has been working toward the goal of Healing All of the Healers -- both young and old who feel major pressure from the C Suites to kick out tons of RVU's which has created a very dreadful cycle for many clinicians. The approach will surely be "Bottom Up and NOT Top Down" allowing everyone to be heard and valued for their opinions as well as their personal needs for a very balanced life (inside and outside of their work). Health Care has become a toxic soup -- Health Care Heroes abound but surely need help to restore purpose filled lives which will benefits all folks that they love
