  • Dr. Maddox is the inaugural Executive Director of the Healthcare Innovation Lab at BJC HealthCare and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

    The Innovation Lab catalyzes care delivery innovation through research and development. To date, the Lab has developed innovations in predictive analytics in inpatient care, critical care, and palliative care; remote patient monitoring in heart failure, post-operative, and post-partum patients; patient transportation for ambulatory and cancer patients; and voice assistants in inpatient supply chain and pre-operative patients.

    He is also a practicing cardiologist, a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the Washington University School of Medicine, and a health services researcher. His research interests have focused on healthcare delivery innovation, learning healthcare systems, and quality of care in cardiovascular disease. He has authored over 230 peer-reviewed publications and received multiple grants exploring optimal care delivery.

    He has held multiple leadership positions in the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. He is currently a Trustee of the American College of Cardiology and serves on their digital transformation task force.
