Educated at Maricopa County General Hosptial, California Pacific Medical Center, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and University of Iowa, he completed the fellowship in Ocular Oncology/Ophthalmic Pathology, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and a residency in Ophthalmology. Dr. Johnson is currently employed at the University of Miami Hospital and serves as a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. He is the Service Director for the Division of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His experience includes a variety of procedures and conditions including blepharoplasty, orbital fractures and tumors, ptosis, congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction and eyelid abnormalities, meningiomas, and anophthalmias among others. He has been published in many peer-reviewed medical journals and has received several awards including recognition from the US News and World Report and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as Professor of the Year twice from the Bascom Palmer Eye Hospital, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
