- Dr. Thomas Bittker, MD, is a Psychiatry specialist with a subspecialty in General and Forensic Psychiatry and practices in Reno, Nevada. He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1965 and completed his internship at the Oregon Health Sciences University in 1966. After serving two years in the Peace Corps he completed his residency training at Stanford University in 1971. While at Stanford he earned a Master' Degree in Cultural Anthropology which has informed a career-long interest in transcultural medicine. He has made significant contributions to his field, authoring several publications, which have been widely cited in other studies. These include works on health economics, health care delivery design, health professional stress, PTSD depression, cardiovascular and neurophysiologic conditions, and intentional isoniazid overdosage identification among southwestern American Indians. He most recently completed a comprehensive guidebook to recovery from trauma entitled, "Dragonslaying". The book is available on Amazon as well as Barnes and Noble. Dr. Bittker is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both General Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. He has been credentialed as well by the American College of Physician Executives and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
