- I was a Stanford trained hematologist. Practiced in San Jose, California and attended in the Stanford Hematology clinic for 30 years. I was a Clinical Professor of Medicine, Dep't. Hematology. Failed back surgery left me with chronic pain, requiring opiate therapy. I was unable to continue the practice. I was fortunate enough to become the medical director of Hospice of the Valley for the past 18 years and retired June 30, 2014.
