Summary
- Taylor D. Ottesen is a current orthopaedic surgery resident at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program with an interest in systems innovation and access to surgery in underserved populations on both a domestic and global scale. His research centers on the establishment of factors that affect orthopedic outcomes using large data, barriers and abuse surrounding Paralympic athletes, and ultimately the evolution of orthopaedic care around the world through the study of health literacy, capacity building, and education. He has won several awards and research grants including the Lowe Endowment Fund Award for work in Haiti, United Arab Emirates, and France as well as the FLAGS Award for work in Ukraine and Japan. Most recently he completed the Swartz Fellowship (OIMSE) in Accra, Ghana and is pursuing a future career in orthopaedic surgery.
