- Dr. Tarun Wasil is an oncologist based in New Hyde Park, NY, with extensive training in internal medicine and hematology and medical oncology. He completed his residency and Chief Residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center and his fellowship at North Shore University Hospital/NYU affiliate at the time. Dr. Wasil has contributed to the field through several presentations at International meetings such as ACP, ASCO and publications in several peer reviewed journals. He was part of the team that described novel prognostic markers such as IgVH gene mutation and CD38 expression in CLL. He was awarded ASCO merit award in 1999 for this oral presentation. After his fellowship, he worked as a Medical Oncologist in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada and was on the facutly at Memorial University of Newfoundland as an Assitant Professor of Clinical Medicine. He was clinical investigator with NCIC. He gained extensive experience in the field of most common cancers such as GI cancers, Lung cancer, prostate cancer as well breast cancer. He has deep interest in learning about the biology of cancer, immune system, immunotherapy and effects of life-style modifications at the cellular level. Because of this, he practices as a general Medical Oncologist/Hematologist and works at New York Cancer and Blood Specialists. He continues to participate in Clinical Research. He is Clinical Assistant Professor at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Medicine. He has been involved in dozens of community outreach programs every year, presents at several local programs every month and is always keen on teaching the APPs, other students as well as Hematology/Oncology fellows.
