Summary
- I am a clinician researcher with an interest in Neonatal and Perinatal Pharmacology. As an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine, I have the opportunity to practice clinical neonatology and design, implement and manage clinical research programs that span the Divisions of Neonatology and Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology at Children’s Mercy Hospital. I completed a PhD in Clinical Investigation during my combined fellowship, and this along with my fellowship research experience gives me a unique skill set to apply towards launching an academic career. I currently am the coordinating PI for a multi-site trial investigating the pharmacogenetics of placental opiate transfer. The second large project which I am launching involves defining the impact of age and genetics on NSAID metabolism.
My early research career will focus on elucidating the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenetics of both old and new drugs used to treat neonatal disease, with an emphasis on optimizing and individualizing drug therapy in neonates.
