• An experienced neurologist who lives and works in greater Charlotte, NC, Dr. Hemanth Rao holds a medical degree from Madras Medical College in Chennai, India. After earning his doctor of medicine in 1988, he immigrated to the United States, where he completed a general medical internship through the Elmhurst Medical Center/Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan; a neurology residency through the Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine on Long Island; and an electromyography neuromuscular disease fellowship through the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
  
  Dr. Rao became president and chief executive officer of the Neurological Institute shortly after completing his Washington University fellowship. During his 22 years with this multi-office Charlotte practice, he concurrently added a clinical research division for the practice. In addition to his ongoing responsibilities with the Neurological Institute, he concurrently directs neurology operations for the Carolinas ContinueCARE Hospital at Pineville.
