Summary

  • Stella Care is the care delivery arm of Stella Health, the parent organization for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and its diversified business units. Stella Care exists to challenge the bounds of what is possible when providing care in patients' homes. We are a care delivery organization that provides virtual and home-based palliative and complex primary care to the most vulnerable members of a population. When caring for our patients, the goal is to be the best and to provide that care with humanity and dignity.

As Chief Clinical Officer, I am responsible for leading our clinical care, product development, and quality/safety/compliance teams. I work in a triad leadership structure with the chief operating officer and head of strategic business development and report to the SVP of Stella's Diversified business unit.

I am a senior physician executive specializing in care model development and execution for high-risk patient populations. I have worked in startup, large regional, and national payer and provider organizations. My skills include:

    1. Building, organizing, and leading high-performing multidisciplinary clinical and operations teams with an emphasis on delivering care to the most vulnerable, chronically ill populations.
    2. Instilling a strong sense of mission and a clear "North Star" in all team members.
    3. Using data, discipline, and KPIs to drive all business and clinical decisions.
    4. Focusing on solutions instead of excuses and being resilient in the face of failure.
    5. Overcoming decision-making paralysis in situations where there are a lot of "unknowns."
    6. Leading through periods of intense organizational change.
    7. Mentoring colleagues with their (read, not my own) professional satisfaction and growth in mind.
8, Getting buy-in from internal and external stakeholders by listening and speaking their language.
    9. Rolling up my sleeves and getting into the weeds, and not simply leading from a "50,000-foot" view.
