- Dr. Suzanne Beck is a pediatric pulmonologist and sleep physician in Philadelphia, PA and is affiliated with several hospitals in the area, including Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Main and King of Prussia campuses). She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. Her Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship was at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. In her early career, Dr. Beck's research focussed on gene therapy for cystic fibrosis, including translational research with animal models for gene therapy, running pre clinical and performing clinical trials with the first AAV vectors at Johns Hopkins University and University of Florida. Currently she focusses on the care and management of children with cystic fibrosis as well as those with other chronic lung diseases and asthma. Currently, she is the Associate Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at CHOP and is involved in clinical trials of investigational therapeutics in CF. In addition, Dr. Beck has expertise in infant, child and adolescent sleep apnea and other sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, hypoventilation, insomnia and restless leg syndrome. In particular, Dr. Beck and her team have built a Quality Improvement CPAP Adherence Program helping infants and children accept and adhere to treatment. She is the Medical Director of the three fully accredited Sleep Laboratories at CHOP where over 3700 polysomnograms are performed each year. She has been in practice 20+ years. She is Board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology, and Sleep Medicine and experienced in cystic fibrosis, pediatric asthma, chronic lung disease, bronchoscopy, pediatric sleep medicine, insomnia, sleep apnea and noninvasive ventilation (CPAP/BPAP).
