  He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. Dr. Rai went on to pursue his training at Texas A&M Health Science Center where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He was selected to an integrated 6-year plastic surgery residency program at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX. During his residency he rotated at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and Shriners Burn Hospital in Galveston, TX.
