Summary
- I grew up in a family of doctors who made a positive impact in many peoples life From my early formative years, I have been exposed to not only the care aspect that a doctor provides but also the role of a doctor as a teacher with meaningful influence in someone’s life. That was a big motivation for me to get into medicine.
I love practicing nephrology because kidneys are such an integral part of health and wellbeing. Once you explain the role of the kidneys, patients get it and are much more receptive to suggestions. What I love about my patients is that even though, quite a few of them are very sick with several other organs damaged, they are very motivated and eager to learn things that they can work on, to improve their life. I am impressed by their positive attitude and that is what keeps me going in my day to day life.
My philosophy in healthcare is patient doctor partnership, to share the responsibilities to help make someone's day to day life better. I like to listen, share my knowledge and experience I have for someone’s medical problems, and come up with a plan with my patients. I also want my patients to be invested 100% in the decision-making process and to follow up. I believe it is a partnership between patient and doctor to make the patient feel better, and I want my patients to be actively involved in their health decisions.
