- Dr. Grandhe is a board-certified physician with dual fellowships from Harvard-affiliated institutions, having trained in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and in Bioethics at the Harvard Center for Bioethics. He is one of the youngest physicians to earn the prestigious designation of Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM), the highest honor awarded by AAHPM. Dr. Grandhe is also the only board-certified Hospice Medical Director and Healthcare Ethics Consultant in California’s Central Valley, bringing an invaluable level of expertise to the region. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he moved with his family to Bakersfield, California, where he grew up. Dr. Grandhe graduated with high honors from Sri Ramachandra University, a Harvard Medical International Affiliated Institution in India, before returning to the U.S. to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA-Kern Medical.
Dr. Grandhe’s commitment to ethical medical practice was further acknowledged when he was accepted into Harvard Medical School’s esteemed fellowship in Bioethics, a testament to his dedication to advancing medical ethics in healthcare. After completing his training at Harvard, Dr. Grandhe returned to the Central Valley with a mission to provide culturally sensitive, compassionate care to medically underserved and disadvantaged populations.
His research focuses on innovative pain management strategies, including using virtual reality as a non-opioid intervention for symptom relief in patients with advanced illnesses. Academically, Dr. Grandhe is particularly interested in the intersection of palliative care, hematology, and oncology. He has shared his work through national presentations and published abstracts, and he has authored numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and photographic fillers in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).
