  • Stuart M. Levine, MD, FACP, was recently named President of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and Senior Vice President of MedStar Health. He formerly served as President and Chief Medical Officer at MedStar Harbor Hospital. Prior to that he served as vice president of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at both MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and MedStar Harbor Hospital. Previously, Dr. Levine served as the vice chairman of Strategic Growth and Research in the Department of Medicine at both MedStar Good Samaritan and MedStar Union Memorial Hospitals, and as medical director of the Good Health Center at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital.

    Prior to joining MedStar Health in 2010, Dr. Levine served as a faculty member and assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he also served as co-director of the Johns Hopkins Vasculitis Center.

    Dr. Levine received his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed his internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as a fellowship in rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American Medical Association and the American Association for Physician Leadership. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Professionals.

    Dr. Levine’s research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including PLOS One, Arthritis and Rheumatology, The Journal of Rheumatology, Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism, and The American Journal of Medicine. Dr. Levine received a K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award from the National Institutes of Health for his work on immune responses in autoimmune myositis.
