  • Dr. Stuart Berger is a native Wisconsinite. He was born and raised in Milwaukee. He went to undergraduate school at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and then graduated from medical school at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He did his internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Chicago and then went on to do a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and Neonatology also
    at the University of Chicago. He remained on the faculty at the University of Chicago for five years and did a combination of Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine.

    Following this, Dr. Berger was recruited to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1991 to start the pediatric heart transplant program. Soon after arrival he became the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and remained in that position for the next 24 years. In 2014, he went to the
    University of California Davis to become the Medical Director of the Heart Center and the Vice Chair of Pediatrics. He then came to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in 2016 as the Executive Director of the Pediatric Heart Center and the Vice Chair of Pediatrics.

    Dr. Berger currently is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Northwestern University. He is the Division Head of Pediatric Cardiology at Lurie Children’s Hospital as well as the medical Director of the Heart Center. His clinical interests include pediatric intensive care medicine, interventional cardiac
    catheterization, pulmonary hypertension, and outpatient pediatric cardiology. His academic and research interests are in the area of prevention of sudden cardiac death in children and adolescents including advocacy for CPR and AED use. He is very interested in community medicine and CPR and AED Education for all.
